Tata Steel’s Electric Arc Furnace Upgrade

Current project experience includes supporting the Tata Steel Electric Arc Furnace upgrade at Port Talbot, contributing to the civil and highway design associated with a major industrial infrastructure programme. The role includes highway and access-road design, Civil 3D modelling, earthworks development, drainage coordination and utility interfaces within a highly constrained operational site. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the focus is on resolving design interfaces, coordinating levels and infrastructure requirements, and developing practical, buildable solutions that support construction and long-term operation of the upgraded facility.

Dewsbury Batley Chidswell Transforming City Fund

Previous local-authority experience includes supporting the development of the Dewsbury Batley Chidswell Transforming City Fund scheme, progressing a complex urban highway and active-travel corridor from concept through preliminary and detailed design. The role included highway and active-travel design, Civil 3D modelling, pavement and drainage design, signs and road markings, statutory undertaker coordination, Road Safety Audit responses, Traffic Regulation Order development and preparation of technical information for procurement and construction. The Contract Lead also supported the scheme through Outline and Full Business Case stages, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, elected members, stakeholders and funding partners to balance technical requirements with parking, public transport, accessibility and local community priorities.

Carlisle Southern Link Road

Previous consultancy experience includes supporting the detailed design of the Carlisle Southern Link Road (M6 Junction 42), a major new highway infrastructure scheme for Cumbria County Council. Acting as a Senior Engineer, the role included reviewing information developed during preliminary design, leading the detailed highway design across a substantial section of the route, Civil 3D modelling, preparation of design reports and departures, and multidisciplinary model coordination through Navisworks. The experience strengthened capability in developing complex highway geometry within a large multidisciplinary environment, coordinating interfaces and progressing technically robust designs towards delivery.

Windermere Gateway – Junction Feasibility Study

Previous consultancy experience includes assessing the feasibility of junction improvements on the A591 for Cumbria County Council. The role involved reviewing the proposed roundabout concept, identifying significant geometric and HGV access constraints, and advising the Client where the initial proposal was not considered practical or safe. Alternative solutions were then explored to help develop a more suitable way forward for the scheme.
